About Fern and Fable
About Fern and Fable
Where stories root deep and magic grows wild.
In a quiet corner of England, beneath a tangle of brambles and dreaming trees, a little idea began to grow. It started, as all the best stories do, with a question.
What if there was a place where children could roam through forests without leaving home?
Where every story whispered something true and timeless?
Where even the breeze had something to say?
Fern & Fable was born from that question, and a deep love for childhood, storytelling, and the wild wisdom of nature.
Who We Are
I’m Charlotte, a children’s writer and early years educator with a background in play-based learning and child development. For over a decade, I’ve worked with little ones, watching how they gather pebbles like treasure, how they listen to the wind like it’s speaking just to them, and how they carry stories in their pockets like seeds.
Fern and Fable is the place where those observations come to life. Every book, every kit, every illustration is crafted with intention, to honour the quiet magic of the natural world and the curiosity of children who venture through it.
What We Make
Our world is filled with:
Gentle, poetic picture books — like The Whispering Wind and The River Who Dreamed of the Sea, that speak to both children and the grown-ups who read with them.
Nature-inspired Kits that let children craft their own woodland characters and follow them into imagined adventures.
Soft watercolour prints, play sets, and keepsakes made with love, and just a little forest magic.
We believe in slow stories, meaningful play, and beauty that lasts.
Why We Do It
Because childhood is a fleeting, sacred thing.
Because stories shape how we see the world.
Because the hush before snow, the rustle of tall grass, the path beneath ferns, they all carry something worth listening to.
And because we believe that even the smallest story can take root and grow into something extraordinary.
